Chromium(VI) risk assessment and detection
Detection is the first step in the chain, guided by the principle of safety for people and the environment. The risk assessment determines which protective equipment must be worn, which occupational health care is required and when an entry in the exposure register must be made.
The chromium(VI) risk assessment on cr6.info
The interactive risk assessment of The Chromate Experts guides you step by step through work on chromate-contaminated hot components and insulation. It is available in versions for Germany, the Netherlands, English, Poland, France, Switzerland (German and French) and Austria, each with the respective national regulations.
We support you with the risk assessment for work involving chromium(VI)
Inventory
We take wipe samples and material samples from hot components, insulation, work areas and surfaces and have them analyzed by SEEF B.V.
Evaluation
Based on the findings, we work with you to prepare the risk assessment, the protective measures and the review of substitution.
Implementation
Cleaning with KavarClean®, decontamination by the KavarTeam and, where possible, replacement with insulation without basic oxides.
Patented test method for chromates on hot stainless steel components
The Dutch company SEEF B.V. has developed a patented test method that specifically detects chromates formed on hot stainless steel components by installed insulation materials such as mineral wool, glass fiber and AES wool. These insulation materials are found in vehicles, on industrial engines, steam and gas turbines, in the engine rooms of ships, yachts and diesel locomotives and even on aircraft turbines.
At Kavarmat® we use only the analytical technology of SEEF B.V., as do The Chromate Experts in Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. With our mobile laboratory equipment or the new shake test from SEEF, we detect chromium(VI) contamination quickly and reliably. Precise certificates of analysis based on wipe samples and/or material samples are issued in writing by the laboratory of SEEF B.V. in the Netherlands.
